Atlanta Pride

The Atlanta Pride Committee is Georgia’s oldest non-profit agency serving the LGBTQ community and serves as an advocate of, and resource to, gender and sexually diverse communities in Atlanta and the Southeastern United States. Our operations include the annual Atlanta Pride Festival and Parade in October as well as 60 other educational, social, and historical programs each year, as well as community reinvestment initiatives.

Student Service Organizations
Student Civic Engagement advises student organizations focusing on leadership in social service and civic engagement. Working with these organizations will provide students with service opportunities, developing or enhancing leadership skills through service and establishing fellowship.
Students interested in opportunities with the following organizations should contact the advisor for each student group and/or join the group through the Panther Involvement Network. Students can also search the Panther Involvement Network to find other service-based organizations not advised by Student Civic Engagement staff members or visit Leadership Development to learn more about their offerings.
Alpha Phi Omega Service Fraternity
Alpha Phi Omega is a National co-ed service fraternity organized to provide community service, leadership development and social opportunities for college students.

Panther Breakaway
This organization is part of the national alternative breaks program, which organizes community service trips for college students during winter, spring and summer breaks. For details regarding the available trips, refer to Panther Breakaway. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis.

The purpose of this organization is to reach and inspire the people of the world through the singing of gospel music.

Serve@State
A student-directed service club that impacts the campus community and surrounding areas. Members are instrumental in coordinating service projects and volunteer initiatives. Projects cover various social justice issues: hunger/homelessness, healthcare, environmental, animal rights, and much more. To become a member, you must commit to attending at least one meeting and one service project each academic semester (Fall/Spring).

Volunteer Opportunities
Student Civic Engagement partners with local nonprofit organizations to offer volunteer opportunities for Georgia State students, faculty and staff.
Student Civic Engagement staff members lead service projects on a regular basis. View the university calendar, visit us on the Panther Involvement Network or visit PawsForACause to sign up for upcoming service projects, programs and events.
Individuals looking to volunteer on a regular basis are invited to engage with our ongoing service partners. Examples of opportunities include volunteering at The Rooftop Gardens at Center Parc Stadium and distributing food boxes with the Salvation Army. Individuals and groups can also use PawsForACause to find volunteer opportunities promoted by community partners and to log volunteer hours.
In addition, Student Civic Engagement hosts the PawsForACause EXPO during the fall and spring semester where nonprofit organizations come to campus to recruit interested Georgia State community members for volunteer and internship positions.
Student Civic Engagement staff is available to help or advise students about volunteering. Community service opportunities are available for all interests, schedules and talents. Civic Engagement is here to help students find positions that are a good fit for them, so that the student, the agency, and the community benefit from the student’s participation.
