1. To reduce the risk of spreading COVID-19, the Student Center has implemented the following changes in our operations:
We are a distribution site for GSU reusable masks.
We have enhanced sanitation.
- We placed additional hand sanitizers by elevators, entries and other high traffic areas
- We are scheduling additional time between events to allow for the sanitization of meeting spaces and equipment.
- Although water fountains are closed, our water bottle filling stations are open.
- All Building Services staff completed the University System of Georgia (USG) Blood Borne Pathogen training.
- Our Building Services staff have received training from USG Facilities, and the Georgia Nation Guard regarding the cleaning and sanitization procedures recommended by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and have developed a COVID-19 response team.
- We purchased an Electrolyte GenEon machine to assist in sanitizing.
- We follow the sanitation guidelines available from the “Cleaning and Sanitation” section of the covidinfo.gsu.edu FAQ section.
We are cashless.

- Commercial Solicitation Reservations
- Cinefest Retail Sales

2. The Student Center at Georgia State University has a Building Emergency plan and staff trained on many different emergency scenarios. Our Building Emergency plan was created and updated with guidance from the office of Emergency Management.
A few general guidelines and information.
- Review the Emergency Directions posted in the back of each meeting room.
- During a fire alarm, please exit through a staircase. Elevators will be disabled. Emergency exit maps are posted at each passenger elevator. Always assume that the alarm is not a drill.
- In the event of an emergency, notifications will be broadcast on the building's digital signage, the computer screens in the meeting rooms and offices, and on the audio emergency public address system in the building.
- If you are directions to evacuate, please do so as safely and rapidly as possible. Exit signs are lit and will be visible during blackouts. The building has multiple exits. Meet-up locations are designated in Unity Plaza, at the Recreation Center entry, and the greenway area. If you are in need of assistance exiting due to a disability or other reason, please inform a staff member or GSU police.
- During a tornado warning, please follow the staff's guidance on where to seek shelter. The sheltering locations are the State Ballroom on the first floor of Student Center East and Cinefest Movie Theater on the 2nd floor of Student Center West. Always avoid areas with windows and exterior glass.
- For emergencies, please call 911 or 3-3333 from a Georgia State University office phone.
- We encourage all of the GSU Community to use the Live Safe App. More information can be found https://safety.gsu.edu/livesafe/.
Information regarding parking options on campus is available from the Parking & Transportation website. Please note that the M Deck is located directly across Gilmer Street from Student Center East and G Deck is the parking lot closest to Student Center West.
