The Student Center Event Management office is responsible for reserving spaces in Student Center East and West, Veterans Hall in Dalhberg Hall, West Exhibit Hall in the Urban Life Building, Unity Plaza, Urban Life Plaza and Hurt Park.

Renovated in 2020 with dual-presentation screens, permanent stage, AV equipment, carpeting and a storage area for tables and chairs that are not in use.

Event times available match the hours available for spaces in the Student Center.

Requests to have food in Veterans Memorial Hall must be submitted using the guidelines in the Food and Beverage section of the Event Planning Resources section of Host an Event.

Urban Life - West Exhibit Hall

West Exhibit Hall

is in the Urban Life Building adjacent to Student Center East and Student Center West. It can be accessed from the breezeway between Student Center East and Urban Life Plaza towards the Sports Arena or the elevators in the Urban Life Building.

Outdoor Spaces

Hurt Park

Diagonally across from Student Center East, bounded by Courtland Street, Gilmer Street and Edgewood Avenue.

Responsibility for the scheduling of Hurt Park is shared between Georgia State and the City of Atlanta.

External clients must request the use of Hurt Park by emailing [email protected].

Registered student organizations and university departments may reserve Hurt Park through the link below.

The Hurt Park request form listed above must be submitted with the information required by the City of Atlanta under its park ordinance.

All university sponsored events must end at least 30 minutes before the Student Center’s closing hours.

Wi-Fi access in public areas.

Commercial solicitation activities, including fundraising, in conjunction with a university sponsored event may be approved in the park. A commercial solicitation agreement must be submitted at least 5 business days in advance.

Food service in Hurt Park must be provided by PantherDining Catering or approved in advance by the Event Management office. Outside caterer requests must be submitted at least two weeks prior to the event. Snack food waiver requests must be submitted at least three business days before the event.

All set-up and audiovisual requests must be made through the Student Center Event Management office.

Events and activities that require sound amplification, such as musical performances and speaker presentations, may occur between 12 and 2 p.m. and other times as approved.

Sound may not disrupt university activities, and the Student Center reserves the right to monitor sound levels and modify volume or cancel disruptive events. The sound level must not exceed 85 decibels.

Portable audio devices made for personal use, such as MP3 players, radios, blue tooth speakers, instruments and other devices, should be operated at a low level or with personal earphones so as not to disturb activity at nearby tables.

Motorized vehicles, bicycles, rollerblades and skateboards may not be operated on Unity Plaza.

Wi-Fi access in public areas

All food service in Unity Plaza must be provided by PantherDining Catering or approved in advance by the Event Management office. Outside caterer requests must be submitted at least 2 weeks prior to the event. Snack food waiver requests must be submitted at least 3 full business days before the event.

Banners, signs or backdrops may not be attached to buildings, trees, doors, light poles or walls on Unity Plaza.
