Big Ideas
Big Ideas is a monthly program focused on exploring pressing issues in society. Throughout each month, students can follow us on Twitter @gsu_leadership to learn more about the issue of the month. We will be posting information about the issue from a variety of perspectives to ensure that students get a nuanced understanding of the issue. Then, at the end of the month, students are invited to join us for a discussion about the month’s issues and an opportunity to brainstorm possible solutions to addressing the issue.

Communities require leaders from a variety of areas of expertise. Leadership in the City is a lunch and learn series designed to introduce students to leaders from various professions. During these engaging lunch and learn events, students meet local professionals from a variety of career fields, learn about the critical issues facing their professions today, and have the opportunity to ask questions regarding being a leader in their chosen field.
Panther Leadership Academy
Panther Leadership Academy is a three-day retreat for students interested in an intense leadership development experience. The goal of the retreat is to build participants’ confidence in their leadership skills, so they can positively influence their personal communities. Each year, a group of 80 students is selected to participate in the annual retreat, which is held at a site off campus. Preference is given to students actively involved in leadership in campus student organizations. During the retreat, students are divided into small groups led by a staff facilitator and student mentor. Over the course of the retreat, participants engage in small group discussions, team building activities, skill building workshops and personal reflection. This is a great opportunity to network with other campus leaders and make new friends!
