Kim Ruiz, who was WRAS Music Director for 2021-2022 academic year, was honored at the Friends of Georgia Radio banquet held on Saturday, August 27, 2022 in Alpharetta. Friends of Georgia Radio (FoGR) is a 501c3 non-profit organization of energetic, passionate radio professionals dedicated to Georgia communities, the radio profession, and each other. They raise funds for and award yearly scholarships for students at Georgia colleges and universities, induct nominees into its Hall of Legends and provide mentoring for those students from professionals and legends in the radio industry.
Kim received a $1,500 scholarship in recognition of her fine work at WRAS over the past academic year. Among the radio community, WRAS continues to be highly regarded as a laboratory for radio training. Presenting Kim's award is Dale Van Cantfort, Ph.D., a member of the Board of Directors of the Friends of Georgia Radio and professor of Mass Communications at Piedmont University, along with entertainer Jeff Foxworthy, who was the emcee of the event.
