While the library is getting some amazing new spaces, don't forget that the Student Center offers a wide range of places to study and relax in both the East and West buildings. Whether students are looking to eat and socialize or find a quiet place to get work done, the Student Center has something to offer for everyone.
Main Lounge
Firstly, a hidden gem of Student Center East, the Main Lounge is a quiet study lounge tucked away at the back of the second level. With tables and couches for students to study or chill out, you can always find a couple of students in here who have discovered this perfect place to get work done.
Gallery Lounge
Another quiet place to go and relax is in the Gallery Lounge in Student Center East 306. Here one can find not only a perfect place to study or relax but also an art gallery that features a range of exhibits relating to culture and identity with works created by students and staff from the university community. Exhibits are coordinated by the Spotlight Programs Board.
Panther Place Lounge
If you’re looking for somewhere more popular, Panther Place Lounge on the third floor of Student Center West is the place to be. The most popular of all the study spots in the Student Center by far, Panther place Lounge provides students with couches, tables, food, and televisions. You’ll find students here eating lunch, chilling with friends, or simply passing the time by. In fact, Panther Place Lounge seems to be even more popular with the opening of Steak ‘n Shake in the Panthers Club. Be sure to stop by and see what all the hype is about.
Atrium Lounge
Many students may not know the Atrium Lounge by name, but they surely will have walked through it or hung out there before. The Atrium Lounge is the large open area outside the State Ballroom in Student Center East that is always bustling with activity. With huge glass windows that allow for copious amounts of natural light, the Atrium Lounge is a great place to be if students want to hang with friends or easy access to an area to chill in between classes.
The Swings
Finally, a place that is often forgotten but is most certainly underrated is the wooden swings study area that can be found between Student Center East and Urban Life. This place is a great alternative for those who wish to hang out once it warms up and study instead of being inside. This place is great on a nice sunny day however there’s not much space so don’t be surprised if you find people already on the swings.
In the end, if none of these areas are appealing, students can always find couches and chairs in most corridors and open areas on almost all levels of both Student Center buildings.
