As the semester is coming to an end and students are looking towards summer vacation, there is one major obstacle standing in their way: finals. Some students may want to start preparing for those exams and presentations months in advance, while some may not even open their notes until the week of the exam. Regardless of how you prepare, make sure that you set aside time to relax. Studies have shown that increased exam stress could lead to increased tension and poor academic performance. This means that setting aside time to rest while preparing for the final could lead to better performance on that exam compared to continuously putting your mind and body through constant stress when prepping.
Knowing this information, Black Student Achievement would like to offer a solution to our students. Please feel free to come by our office and utilize either of our two computer labs to study or take a break in our community lobby area. Our community space allows an openness to discuss current events with other students who may be there, watch Netflix to decompress, or simply unwind from the stress of finals. Regardless of how you study for finals or how early you start the process, please make sure to set aside some time to relax.
